Those songs are the framework for later works like Jungleland. It features 7 new Springsteen compositions and clocks at 46:47. That song fits so well with the theme in Incident, Sandy, and Rosalita. I remember the first time I listened to Zero and Blind Terry on Tracks and could immediately tell it was from the same era as this album. The only song that doesn't work for me is Wild Billy's Circus. Incident, Rosalita, 4th of July, NYC serenade, Kitty's back (though that's one that much better live where it can carry on for 14+ minutes), the E Street Shuffle. The album was more refined than Greetings, but not as polished as Born to Run. I just really love that early Bruce sound and the songs where he just packed as many words as he could while making use of the whole band. Maybe my favorite Bruce album (or at least tied with Born to Run).
